Lufthansa Technik Expands at Clark Airport with New MRO Facility
Lufthansa Technik to Build New MRO Facility at Clark Airport

The Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corporation (LIPAD), operator of Clark International Airport (CRK), announced on Wednesday that Lufthansa Technik Philippines is expanding its operations at the airport. The expansion involves a 157,000-square-meter site for a new base maintenance facility capable of accommodating up to nine wide-body aircraft bays, with operations slated to begin in 2028.

Strengthening Clark as an Aerospace Hub

LIPAD President Noel Manankil welcomed Lufthansa Technik CEO Soeren Stark, Chief HR Officer Janna Schumacher, and Lufthansa Technik Philippines President Holger Beck during a site inspection. Manankil highlighted that the investment underscores global confidence in Clark International Airport and Central Luzon's potential as an emerging aerospace hub.

Lufthansa Technik Philippines, a joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and MacroAsia Corporation, currently specializes in MRO services for Airbus A330, A340, A350, and A380 aircraft, as well as Boeing 777 aircraft. The new Clark facility will add support for the Boeing 787, broadening its service portfolio.

Expanding MRO Capabilities

The new facility will complement Lufthansa Technik's existing operations in Manila and enhance its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in the Asia Pacific region. Manankil stated, "This investment by Lufthansa Technik reflects the confidence global aviation leaders have in Clark International Airport and in the opportunities available in Central Luzon. Developments such as this demonstrate Clark's ability to accommodate world-class aviation operations."
