Recently, a team of officials, including Pampanga Fourth District Representative Anna York Bondoc, Masantol Mayor Danilo Guintu, and Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) General Manager Glen Pangapalan, conducted a thorough inspection of the proposed site for the fishport. The facility is slated to be constructed adjacent to the Pampanga Delta Bridge, along the Pampanga River.
Mayor Guintu emphasized that this location was selected for its strategic advantages, positioning it as an optimal hub for the trading, distribution, and handling of fish and other seafood products sourced from Masantol and neighboring coastal communities. This choice is expected to enhance logistical efficiency and market access.
Assessing Current Infrastructure and Community Needs
In addition to the new site, the officials visited the existing Masantol Fishport in Barangay Sto. Niño to evaluate its current condition and understand the pressing needs of local fishermen and seafood vendors. Representative Bondoc highlighted that the insights gained from this assessment will be instrumental in guiding the planning and construction phases of the new mega fishport.
