Two suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 and police officers in the City of Naga, Cebu on Saturday afternoon, May 23, 2026. Authorities seized 20 kilos of suspected shabu valued at P136 million.
Suspects Identified
The operation took place in Purok Gaway-Gaway, Barangay Uling. The suspects were identified as alias Romy, 57, a former electrician from Southern Leyte, and alias Dante, 47, a construction worker from Laguna City in Luzon.
Monitoring and Buy-Bust
PDEA 7 investigation revealed that the suspects had been under surveillance for allegedly delivering large quantities of shabu from Luzon. The two admitted to transporting 20 large packs of shabu to Cebu using a vehicle, each pack weighing one kilogram.
Upon learning that the suspects had arrived in Cebu, PDEA 7 agents arranged a buy-bust operation. Authorities purchased P1 million worth of illegal drugs from the suspects, who agreed to meet at a location in Naga City. After the suspects handed over the shabu, agents identified themselves and arrested them.
Additional Seizure
During a vehicle inspection, authorities recovered 19 more large packs of suspected shabu from the back of the vehicle. Alias Romy admitted that they were instructed to deliver the drugs in exchange for P130,000. He said they were initially told it was a parcel, but he already suspected they were transporting shabu.
Charges Filed
The suspects are now in PDEA 7 custody and face charges for violating Section 5 in relation to Section 26 paragraph (b) and Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
