Pampanga Press Club Golf Tournament Success Funds Journalism Programs
The Pampanga Press Club (PPC) has secured the continuation of two vital programs thanks to the robust participation in its 3rd Invitational Golf Tournament. Held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at the prestigious Pradera Verde Golf & Country Club in Lubao town, the event drew a significant turnout from various sectors, ensuring financial support for the club's initiatives.
Strong Support from Diverse Sponsors
PPC President Lincoln M. Baluyut expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering backing from private corporations, government agencies, and individuals. This support is crucial for the club's efforts in training aspiring campus journalists and enhancing the well-being of its members. The golf tournament served as a key fundraising platform, bringing together representatives from local businesses, national corporations, and government entities who sponsored the activity.
The ceremonial tee-off was led by notable figures, including Junior Golfer Ronee Claire Dungca, who is set to compete in the USwing Mojing Junior World Championship in San Diego, California this July. Other participants included Lubao Councilor Jayson Victorino, Clark International Airport Corporation director Victor Manuel representing CIAC President Jojit Alcazar, BCDA Senior Vice President Mark Torres representing BCDA Engr Jake Bingcang, Bureau of Customs - Port of Clark District Collector Jairus Reyes, NBI Region 3 Director Joel Tovera, and Commissioner Fritz Gaston of the Philippine Sports Commission.
Expanding Partnerships and Community Impact
Also joining the event were Jack Uy, chairman of Savers Group Holdings Inc., along with his sons Jansen Ivan and Justine Shaun, who serve as President and Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President for Hospitality of SGHI, respectively. Representatives from JDN Realty Group, Arni Valdes and Rick Wilkerson, also participated, alongside officials from the NBI, Bureau of Customs, and other agencies.
The PPC initiated its golf tournaments in 2024 with fewer than 30 partners. Over time, the professional media practices of PPC members have encouraged many organizations to establish and maintain partnerships with the 77-year-old press club, which is the second oldest in the country. PPC Chairman Noel Tulabut highlighted the dual benefit of these events, stating, "It is noteworthy how we in PPC can also bolster a relationship with our growing partners and at same time jointly help our aspiring writers and journalists."
