PDIC Awareness Among Filipinos Rises to 31% in 2025 Survey
PDIC Awareness Rises to 31% in 2025 Survey

The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) has reported a significant increase in public awareness, with three in ten Filipino adults now recognizing it as the government agency that safeguards bank deposits. This finding comes from the 2025 Nationwide Public Awareness and Reputation Survey (NPARS) conducted by NielsenIQ Philippines, Inc. for the Corporation.

Survey Highlights Progress and Challenges

The NPARS, which measures public awareness and stakeholder affinity to PDIC, revealed that awareness climbed to 31% in 2025, a notable improvement from 18% in 2024. This upward trend reflects the Corporation's sustained efforts to educate the public on deposit insurance and its critical role in strengthening trust and stability within the financial system.

However, the survey also underscores a critical opportunity to expand outreach. Insights gathered from 1,500 respondents aged 18 and above across the Philippines show that awareness is highest among individuals with banking experience, those in higher income brackets, and residents in the Visayas. Conversely, there is an urgent need to reach unbanked populations, lower-income groups, and communities in Mindanao, where awareness remains low.

Key Channels for Awareness

The survey also highlighted the channels through which people learn about PDIC. Traditional media, particularly television, emerged as the most influential source, followed by social media platforms like Facebook, and word-of-mouth. These insights provide a roadmap for PDIC to refine its communication strategies and more effectively target diverse audiences.

Alignment with Global Standards

NPARS aligns with global best practices in deposit insurance operations, specifically the Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems set by the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI). The public awareness principle emphasizes continuous monitoring and independent evaluation of awareness initiatives. By adhering to these principles, PDIC demonstrates its commitment to best practices and measurable impact.

PDIC's Mission and Deposit Protection

At its core, PDIC remains steadfast in its mission to protect depositors and promote financial stability. The public can take confidence in knowing that their savings are secured up to the maximum deposit insurance coverage of ₱1 million per depositor, per bank. Deposit insurance is a government policy and financial safety net that protects depositors regardless of a bank's condition.

Beyond protection, PDIC continues to empower the public through information campaigns and educational initiatives. These efforts help Filipinos make informed financial decisions and reinforce the importance of saving within the banking system.
