Six mothers and five fathers were arrested in a week-long police operation against illegal gambling in various areas of Cebu province, according to reports from SunStar Bogo published on May 11, 2026.
Bogo City Operation
In Barangay Cayang, Bogo City, two mothers identified by aliases Merlie, 54, and Karen, 43, were caught during a bet-bust operation by the Bogo City Police Station. Authorities seized bundles of stubs, ballpens, and cash proceeds amounting to over P1,300 from the suspects.
Argao and Pinamungajan Arrests
In Barangay Binlod, Argao town, a father who served as an usher was arrested. The suspect, alias Tony, was found with evidence of illegal swertres, including P50 in bets and P150 in proceeds.
Meanwhile, in Barangay Butong, Pinamungajan town, two mothers named alias Lynlyn and alias Sarah, both 39 years old, were arrested by members of the Regional Special Project Unit (RSPU-7) in coordination with King Dragon Gaming and PAGCOR. Recovered from them were various gambling paraphernalia and cash proceeds from swertres. They failed to present any legal documents authorizing their operation.
Borbon and Dumanjug Operations
In Barangay Don G. Antigua, Borbon town, one father and two mothers were arrested. The suspects were identified as alias JP, 48, who acted as coordinator, and ushers alias Cindy, 36, and alias Dina. Police confiscated numerous gambling stubs and bets from their possession.
In Barangay Camboang, Dumanjug town, two fathers who worked as ushers were also apprehended by police. The arrested individuals were identified as alias Lucio and alias Roy, both 39 years old.
All those arrested will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9287 (illegal gambling).
