Laus Group CEO Urges Media to Combat Misinformation in Pampanga
Laus Group CEO Calls for Media Integrity vs. Fake News

In a powerful address to local journalists, the leader of a major Central Luzon business conglomerate has issued a compelling call to action against the rising tide of misinformation.

A Call for Truth in the Age of Misinformation

Lisset Laus-Velasco, Chairman and CEO of the Laus Group of Companies (LGC), directly challenged media practitioners to reinforce their dedication to accurate and reliable reporting. She made this appeal during the company's annual "Thankful Together" media holiday gathering held recently.

Laus-Velasco highlighted the unique difficulties faced by the public and journalists alike in today's fast-paced information landscape. "Unfortunately, there are now so many ways of getting news that sometimes we can no longer determine what is fake and what is real. Hopefully, we can be the ones to correct that," she stated, mixing English and Filipino to underscore her point.

Reaffirming the Core Responsibility of Journalism

The executive went on to remind those in attendance of the fundamental duty inherent in their profession. "As media, we have responsibilities: to provide the right news to our constituents and to the people we serve," Laus-Velasco asserted. "We chose this career path, and we owe it to the public to deliver the truth."

Her message served as a strong reminder for journalists to remain steadfast to their ethical foundations despite the challenges posed by digital platforms and the rapid spread of unverified information.

Gratitude and Optimism for the Future

The event, held on December 16, 2025, was also a moment for the Laus family to express deep appreciation for the Pampanga media community's longstanding support and partnership. Laus-Velasco, speaking on behalf of the entire family, noted there is still much to be thankful for despite global and national uncertainties.

Paul Tristan Laus, LGC President, echoed this sentiment of gratitude and expressed optimism about the future strength of local media. He specifically commended the efforts of organizations like the Central Luzon Media Association–Pampanga Chapter and the Pampanga Press Club for their work in mentoring the next generation of journalists through campus workshops.

"Our theme today is 'Thankful Together,' and it is very evident here. If we are thankful together, we will definitely be stronger together," Paul Tristan Laus said.

The gathering saw the presence of key Laus family figures, including matriarch and MTL Food Corporation President Tess Laus, Vice President and Executive Director Diorella Laus, and Executive Director Levy Adrian Laus. The tradition was originally started years ago by the company's late founder, Levy P. Laus.
