Negros Power inks 20-MW power deal with AboitizPower

In a significant move to bolster energy security in the region, Negros Electric and Power Corp. (Negros Power) has formally entered into a long-term Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with AboitizPower. The signing ceremony, which marks a pivotal step in addressing the growing electricity needs of Central Negros, was held at the Negros Power office located at The Row on Lacson Street in Bacolod City on November 13, 2025.

A Strategic Partnership for Reliable Energy

The agreement was officially signed by Roel Castro, President and CEO of Negros Power, and Danel Aboitiz, President and CEO of AboitizPower. This 20-megawatt baseload supply contract was awarded to AboitizPower, specifically through its Therma Visayas unit, following a rigorous Competitive Selection Process conducted by the Third-Party Bids and Awards Committee. This process was initiated to secure power for Negros Power's additional capacity requirements.

Roel Castro emphasized the critical nature of this long-term supply deal. He expressed genuine excitement, stating that the secured terms are vital for supporting the area's accelerating economic development. "Our customer base grew from around 220,000 to 245,000 in just one year," Castro revealed. "A proper supply strategy ensures we can meet the increasing demand. With this long-term agreement, we can truly welcome the future with reliable service for our communities."

Commitment Amidst Challenges and Growth

Danel Aboitiz shared his enthusiasm for strengthening the collaboration with the Razon-led Primelectric Holdings and the broader Prime Group. "I am very happy to be here, serving Primelectric and the rest of the Prime Group. We are grateful to be in business with the group -- they are easy to work with, and the partnership has been very fruitful," Aboitiz remarked.

Further reinforcing the commitment, James Yu, AboitizPower’s Head of Revenue Operations, highlighted the partnership's foundation of trust and reliability. He pointed out that the signing is especially meaningful in the wake of recent typhoons and calamities that tested their services. "It is in difficult moments that our resolve is strengthened to restore power and bring light back to communities. At the core of this partnership is trust, and we thank Negros Power for their confidence in us," Yu stated. He also extended gratitude to the teams involved in the successful competitive selection process.

Powering a Brighter Future for Central Negros

This partnership solidifies a shared vision for progress. AboitizPower continues its role as one of the Philippines' leading energy providers, dedicated to delivering reliable, affordable, and sustainable power across the nation. Simultaneously, Negros Power remains steadfast in its mission to serve Central Negros with electricity services that are not only efficient and dependable but also consumer-focused, thereby powering community growth and long-term progress for all its residents.
