Pampanga Electricity Rates Experience Significant Decrease in March 2026
In a surprising development, electricity rates across several parts of Pampanga have decreased this March, defying the ongoing upward trend in global fuel prices. This reduction provides welcome relief to consumers in the region, who have been grappling with energy cost concerns.
Pelco-3 Announces Rate Reductions Across Consumer Categories
The Pampanga III Electric Cooperative (Pelco-3) has reported a substantial reduction of approximately one Philippine peso per kilowatt-hour in its electricity rates for March 2026. Under the newly implemented rate schedule, residential consumers now face a charge of P9.9175 per kilowatt-hour, marking a notable decrease from the previous month's rate.
This positive trend extends to other consumer categories as well. Low-voltage consumers have seen their rates drop to P9.2575 per kilowatt-hour, while high-voltage consumers experienced an even more significant reduction, with their rates falling substantially from the previous month's levels.
Pelco-3 provides essential electricity services to multiple municipalities in Pampanga, including Sto. Tomas, Minalin, San Simon, Apalit, Macabebe, and Masantol, meaning thousands of households and businesses will benefit from these reduced rates.
Pelco-2 Follows Suit with Similar Rate Decreases
Meanwhile, the Pampanga II Electric Cooperative (Pelco-2) has also announced lower electricity rates for March 2026. Residential consumers, along with non-lifeline and non-senior citizen customers, will now pay P9.8672 per kilowatt-hour, representing a meaningful reduction from February's rates.
Pelco-2 serves an extensive area that includes the towns of Guagua, Sta. Rita, Bacolor, Sasmuan, and Lubao, as well as Mabalacat City, ensuring that a broad segment of Pampanga's population will experience these cost savings on their electricity bills.
Conservation Remains Crucial Despite Rate Reductions
Despite these encouraging developments in electricity pricing, both electric cooperatives have issued important reminders to consumers. They emphasize the continued need for electricity conservation and careful monitoring of consumption patterns.
This caution comes amid persistent concerns about fuel supply stability and price volatility in global markets. The cooperatives stress that while current rates have decreased, the broader energy landscape remains uncertain, making responsible energy use more important than ever for long-term sustainability and cost management.
