1,000 Candaba Students Get P11,070 Each in Gov't Employment Program
1,000 Candaba Students Receive SPES Financial Aid

Approximately one thousand students from the municipality of Candaba have been given a significant financial boost to support their education. The aid was distributed on Tuesday, December 16, as part of the government's Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).

Government Partnership Fuels Student Support

The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Candaba Municipal Government and the national Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). Each young beneficiary received a total wage of P11,070 for completing temporary work with the local government unit.

The funding structure was a shared responsibility. The Candaba local government shouldered 60 percent of the amount, equivalent to P6,642 per student. The remaining 40 percent, or P4,428 for each recipient, was provided by DOLE. This partnership highlights a concerted effort to invest in the town's youth.

Ceremonial Payout and Official Statements

The ceremonial distribution was led by Mayor Rene Maglanque and Vice Mayor Thelma Macapagal, alongside members of the Sangguniang Bayan. Mayor Maglanque emphasized the program's core objective: to assist Candaba's students with their school-related expenses.

He reiterated his administration's commitment to making education accessible, viewing it as a critical pathway to better future opportunities. "Since I assumed the position of mayor, one of my aspirations has been for at least one child in every family in Candaba to finish their studies for their future," Mayor Maglanque stated.

Long-Term Impact on Education and Opportunity

This SPES payout does more than provide immediate financial relief. It represents a direct investment in the human capital of Candaba. By easing the burden of educational costs, the program aims to:

  • Reduce dropout rates among students from low-income families.
  • Provide valuable work experience alongside financial support.
  • Empower youth to complete their education and secure better prospects.

The local government's substantial 60% co-funding demonstrates a clear prioritization of education as a pillar for community development. Programs like SPES are vital in bridging the gap for students striving to continue their studies despite economic challenges.
