15K transport workers get P55M aid from DOLE TUPAD

Nearly 15,000 transport workers across the country have received over P55 million in financial assistance under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD)-Tuloy Pasada program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Beneficiaries and Coverage

As of June 22, a total of 15,044 workers in the transport sector have benefited from the aid, which aims to mitigate the effects of rising fuel prices and ongoing economic uncertainty stemming from tensions in the Middle East.

Assistance has also been extended to maritime transport workers in Dinagat Islands, including beneficiaries from public vessels operating in the province.

Program Details

The program, which started in April, provides temporary employment and income support for drivers and other transport workers. According to DOLE, the initiative is part of the government's efforts to cushion the impact of global oil price hikes on the transport sector.
