Call for P5,000 Monthly Subsidy
The TUCP has specifically proposed a P5,000 monthly wage subsidy targeted at over five million minimum wage earners nationwide. In a formal statement, the union argued that if the government can provide fuel subsidies to the transportation sector, it should extend similar support to workers. "There is no reason for the government to keep depriving workers of this urgent relief," the TUCP asserted, highlighting the disparity in assistance measures.

This subsidy demand comes as an alternative to the stalled P200 legislated wage hike, which has faced delays in legislative action. The TUCP noted that both the House of Representatives and the Senate have yet to convene a special session to discuss and pass the proposed wage increase, leaving workers without anticipated raises.
