Lapu-Lapu City JO Workers Get P60 Daily Wage Hike, Backpay Until 2026
Lapu-Lapu JO Workers Receive P60 Daily Wage Increase

Job Order (JO) personnel working for the Lapu-Lapu City Government are now receiving a higher daily wage after the local council passed an ordinance granting a significant across-the-board increase.

Ordinance Grants P60 Daily Increase

The newly approved measure provides a P60 increase in the daily compensation for all qualified Job Order workers. This raises their daily pay from P468 to P528. Councilor Annabeth Cuizon, the Finance Committee chairperson and author of the ordinance, confirmed to SunStar Cebu that this adjusted rate will remain in effect until the year 2026.

The increase applies to all job order personnel hired in 2025 who reported for work during the applicable period. Furthermore, all eligible JO workers will receive a compensation differential covering the period from January 1 to November 30, 2025. The processing and release of this differential pay reportedly began on December 15.

Support from City Leadership

This move to enhance the welfare of contract workers was championed by Mayor Ma. Cynthia “Cindi” Chan and the City Government. The ordinance, formally known as Ordinance No. 17-035-2025 or "An Ordinance Providing for a P60 Across the Board Increase in the Daily Compensation of all Job Order Personnel Starting January 1, 2025," was passed via Resolution No. 17-1047-2025 after thorough deliberation by the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

The legislative measure received unanimous support from all members of the City Council. Councilor Cuizon explained in an earlier interview that the wage adjustment aims to assist JO employees with their household needs and to help cushion the impact of rising prices of goods.

Funding and Implementation

The ordinance specifies that the required funds for the wage hike will be sourced from the current accounts used to charge the salaries of the job order personnel. This structured funding approach ensures the increase is implemented without delay.

This policy underscores the local government's commitment to improving the economic well-being of its workforce, particularly those in contractual positions, providing them with much-needed financial relief.
