The Public Employment Service Office (Peso) in Lapu-Lapu City has successfully concluded its final job fair for 2025, marking a significant achievement in local employment initiatives with strong participation from both job seekers and employers.
Record Participation in Final 2025 Job Fair
According to Peso head Kim Francisco, the Fiesta sa Lapu-Lapu Local and Overseas Job Fair 2025 represented the 15th and final job fair organized by the agency for the year. The event, held on Saturday, November 14, 2025, took place at the Activity Center within The Outlets at MEZ2 Estate in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
The job fair attracted substantial interest from the community, with 810 individuals registering for employment opportunities. Among these registrants, 558 applicants sought local employment while 252 explored overseas job opportunities, demonstrating the diverse employment interests among Cebu's workforce.
Immediate Employment Success and Employer Participation
The event proved immediately successful for many job seekers, with 155 applicants receiving on-the-spot job offers during the fair. This immediate hiring rate reflects the strong match between employer needs and applicant qualifications.
The job fair featured participation from 25 local employers and seven accredited overseas recruitment agencies, providing a wide range of employment options for attendees. This diverse representation of employers ensured that job seekers had access to multiple career paths and industries.
Future Plans and Career Development Initiatives
Looking ahead to 2026, Francisco emphasized Peso's commitment to expanding its employment services. "We will continue partnerships with the private sector and government agencies at Peso Lapu-Lapu so that we can carry out more programs and activities," Francisco stated.
The agency is preparing to implement the Career Support and Development Program in 2026, which will provide crucial career guidance to Grade 10 and Grade 12 students. This initiative represents Peso's proactive approach to addressing future employment needs by preparing students for their career journeys.
The successful job fair was organized through collaboration between multiple stakeholders, including Aboitiz Economic Estates, MEZ2 Estate, The Outlets, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and other partner agencies and companies. This multi-sectoral approach demonstrates the community-wide commitment to addressing employment challenges in the region.
