Pag-IBIG Short-Term Loans Aid 3.2M Filipinos, Up 28% in 2025
Pag-IBIG Loans Help 3.2M Workers in 2025

In a significant boost to financial inclusion, the Pag-IBIG Fund has assisted a record number of Filipino workers through its short-term loan programs in the first ten months of 2025. Officials announced on Monday, December 1, that the agency helped 3.2 million members meet urgent financial needs from January to October, marking a substantial 28% increase in borrowers compared to the same period last year.

Digital Access Drives Record Loan Uptake

Pag-IBIG officials attribute this remarkable growth to the enhanced convenience of their services. More members are now turning to the fund for fast and affordable assistance during critical moments, especially with the ease of applying through Virtual Pag-IBIG. This digital platform allows members to file loan applications anytime and anywhere, breaking down traditional barriers to access.

Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary and Pag-IBIG Fund Board Chairperson Jose Ramon P. Aliling connected this achievement to the broader government agenda. He stated that the rising number of assisted members reflects the agency's commitment to responsive public service, aligning with the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

"Pag-IBIG Fund’s strong performance in extending Short-Term Loans reflects its proven dependability in providing Filipino workers with immediate financial assistance when they need it most," Aliling said. He emphasized that these gains demonstrate a resolve to fulfill the President's vision of a government that delivers timely and dependable support.

Breaking Down the Loan Assistance: MPL and Calamity Loans

The 3.2 million members accessed aid through two primary short-term loan programs. The vast majority, 2.74 million members, utilized the Multi-Purpose Loan (MPL). This flexible financial tool helped Filipinos cover essential expenses such as:

  • School fees and educational costs
  • Medical bills and healthcare expenses
  • Capital for small livelihoods and businesses
  • Home repairs and improvements
  • Other pressing personal needs

Another 535,546 members benefited from the Calamity Loan program. This specific offering provided crucial support for families to rebuild and recover in the aftermath of typhoons, floods, and other natural disasters.

Increased Loanable Amounts and Member Benefits

Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene C. Acosta expressed deep gratitude for the sustained trust of the Filipino workforce. She highlighted a key enhancement introduced earlier in 2025: an increase in the loanable amount under the STL programs. Members can now borrow up to 90% of their Pag-IBIG Regular Savings, which includes their monthly contributions, their employer's share, and accumulated annual dividends.

"We recognize that our short-term loans continue to support millions of our members during life’s most urgent moments," Acosta noted. She shared that everyday stories include parents covering school expenses, workers settling medical bills, and entrepreneurs sustaining their livelihoods, all made possible by Pag-IBIG's support.

The agency has streamlined the process to ensure loans are easy to apply for, processed swiftly, and conveniently released through the Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus. Acosta also pointed out a significant member benefit: a major portion of the interest income generated from these short-term loan programs is returned to the members themselves as annual dividends on their Pag-IBIG Regular Savings and MP2 Savings accounts.

This cycle of support underscores Pag-IBIG Fund's evolving role as a pivotal financial safety net for millions of working Filipinos, combining digital innovation with a strengthened commitment to accessible and affordable service.
