Addressing the Middle East Deployment Decline
Geslani further explained that the Philippines possesses a substantial pool of experienced domestic helpers, while deployment opportunities to Middle Eastern countries are expected to diminish in the coming months due to ongoing warfare. "The country has a large supply of experienced domestic helpers with deployment of household service workers expected to decline in the next few months in the Middle East," he noted. This makes Taiwan's new policy particularly timely and beneficial.
Taiwan's Specific Requirements and Benefits
According to Taiwan's Ministry of Labor, Taiwanese families with at least one child under the age of twelve are now eligible to hire migrant domestic helpers. The ministry has outlined several key requirements and conditions for applicants:
- Implementation of a "No Placement Fee" policy to reduce financial burdens on workers.
- Mandatory completion of specialized household management training.
- Completion of a short Mandarin language course to ensure effective communication.
