BIR Introduces Interactive Digital Tax Calendar to Simplify Tax Compliance
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has launched a new digital initiative aimed at enhancing taxpayer convenience and compliance. According to BIR spokesperson and lawyer Brianna Kay delos Santos, an interactive digital tax calendar is now accessible on the BIR website, providing a centralized resource for tax-related information.
Features and Accessibility of the Digital Calendar
Delos Santos explained in a recent Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon interview that the calendar, available since January 1, 2026, is designed to be user-friendly and interactive. It offers detailed guidance on tax payment deadlines and the necessary requirements for compliance, making it easier for the public to manage their tax obligations.
Key benefits include:
- A centralized source for tax deadlines and requirements.
- Interactive features to enhance user experience.
- A link for electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS) users to facilitate direct tax payments.
For non-eFPS users, the calendar currently displays the appropriate forms to use, with payments to be made through the eBIR portal. Delos Santos emphasized that this tool aims to increase voluntary compliance by simplifying the tax process.
Future Plans and Integration
The BIR has outlined plans to further integrate this digital calendar into the eGovPH mobile application. However, delos Santos noted that the initial focus is on familiarizing the public with the calendar through the BIR website to ensure widespread adoption and understanding.
This move is part of broader efforts to modernize tax administration in the Philippines, leveraging technology to improve accessibility and efficiency for all taxpayers.
