Philippine Balloon Fiesta 2026 Aims to Inspire Youth Aviation Careers
2026 Hot Air Balloon Fiesta to Spark Aviation Interest

The upcoming Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF) is setting its sights beyond spectacular aerial displays. Event Director Captain Joy Roa has announced a core mission for the 2026 edition: to inspire a new generation of Filipinos to take to the skies professionally.

More Than a Spectacle: Building Future Aviators

Speaking at the KapiHann event with the Pampanga Press Club inside Clark Freeport, Captain Roa emphasized the event's educational and developmental goals. He stated that the fiesta is a strategic platform to spark interest in aviation and its many allied fields among young Filipinos.

The festival aims to help construct Philippine teams capable of competing in aviation-related contests across Southeast Asia and the wider world. "The balloon fiesta is trying to develop a Philippine team that will compete in international events," Roa explained. He encouraged the youth to explore diverse roles, from aviation management to administration, highlighting the industry's vast potential.

A Weekend of Everything That Flies in New Clark City

Scheduled for February 13 to 15, 2026, the 26th edition carries the theme "A Weekend of Everything that Flies." It will transform New Clark City into a vibrant hub of aerial activity. The lineup promises an impressive array of attractions designed to captivate and educate attendees.

The sky will be filled with a diverse fleet, including:

  • Skydivers and paragliders
  • Regular and special-shaped hot air balloons
  • Helicopters and radio-controlled aircraft
  • Drones and kites

A notable highlight will be the participation of 22 colorful special-shaped balloons, piloted by international aviators from countries including the United Kingdom, United States, Belgium, the Netherlands, Macedonia, Switzerland, Germany, and Brazil.

Competitions and Filipino Innovation Take Center Stage

The fiesta will also host serious sporting events sanctioned by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI). These competitions are set to showcase skill and technology, featuring events like:

  • Drone soccer
  • Paramotor accuracy trials
  • FPV (First-Person View) drone racing

Adding a proud local touch to the technological showcase, Filipino inventor Kyxz Mendiola is slated to present his groundbreaking, all-Filipino-made manned drone. This presentation underscores the event's commitment to highlighting homegrown talent and innovation within the aviation sector.

By combining thrilling displays with competitive sports and a focus on career inspiration, the 2026 Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta positions itself as a key event for shaping the future of Philippine aviation.
