Cebu Urges Use of Satellite Terminals for Holiday Rush, Peak Days Dec 22-23 & 29-30
Cebu Advises Use of Satellite Terminals for Holiday Travel

Travelers in Cebu are being strongly advised to utilize newly established satellite terminals and designated pick-up and drop-off points to ensure a smoother journey home for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Terminal administrator Ahmed Cuizon issued the call as authorities brace for a significant surge in passenger numbers.

Peak Travel Dates and Satellite Locations

Cuizon identified December 22–23 and December 29–30, 2025 as the expected peak travel days, aligning with the mass exodus for Christmas and New Year celebrations. To manage the anticipated crowds, the satellite terminal system, first tested during the recent Kalag-Kalag Week, will be fully operational.

The specific satellite points for passengers are:

  • For the South Terminal: The Ceres Transport garage in Barangay Kinasang-an Pardo, Cebu City, and the Sunrays Transport garage in Barangay Mambaling, located below the flyover near F. Vestil and C. Padilla Streets.
  • For the North Terminal: Loading areas near UN Avenue and the Marcelo Fernandez Bridge, across from Wilcon Depot in Barangay Paknaan, and the Ceres Transport garage at the North Reclamation Area across from the S&R Shopping Warehouse.

Coordinated Efforts for Efficient Boarding

The primary goal of these additional points is to reduce long lines and waiting times, allowing passengers to board their buses more efficiently. Cuizon emphasized that a coordination meeting has already been held with key stakeholders, including bus operators, terminal managers, and the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO), to finalize all operational plans.

Security and support personnel will also be augmented during the peak period. Cuizon confirmed that additional forces from the Provincial Government Security Office, Civilian Security Unit, Provincial Health Office, Philippine National Police, and relevant transport authorities will be deployed. This multi-agency effort aims to ensure orderly operations and monitor public health at the terminals.

Passenger Numbers Already Rising

Cuizon noted that passenger volumes have already begun to increase ahead of the official peak dates. He pointed out that the number of students and workers traveling home has not yet been fully accounted for, indicating that a further significant surge is likely as the peak dates approach.

"With the satellite terminals and pick-up points in place, passengers should experience a more convenient and orderly boarding process," Cuizon assured the public. The proactive measures are designed to prevent the severe congestion typically seen at main terminals during the country's most hectic travel season.
