The Philippines' leading carrier, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), has officially inaugurated its new Airbus A330neo service to Bohol-Panglao International Airport, marking a significant upgrade in air connectivity for the popular island province. This development, which commenced on November 18, 2025, provides Boholanos and international visitors with greater access to the region's famed natural wonders and wildlife.
A New Chapter for Bohol's Connectivity
The inaugural flight of the 459-seater A330neo was met with a traditional water cannon salute upon its arrival at the Bohol-Panglao airport, symbolizing a warm welcome and the start of enhanced operations. The aircraft will now operate daily flights between Manila and Bohol, significantly increasing seat capacity on this vital route.
A ceremony held at the airport featured key figures including Bohol Governor Erico “Aris” Aumentado and CEB Vice President for Corporate Affairs Atty. Maria Cecilia Natividad. They were joined by officials from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Aboitiz Airports, the Bohol Provincial Tourism Office, and the Bureau of Fire Protection, all celebrating this milestone achievement for the province.
Boosting Tourism and Economic Growth
In his statement, Governor Aumentado highlighted the transformative impact of the new service. "This achievement strengthens our tourism, boosts our economy, and showcases what collaboration can accomplish," he said, emphasizing the new chapter for the airport.
Echoing this sentiment, Atty. Natividad reinforced the airline's mission. "As we bring the A330neo to more domestic routes like Bohol, we reinforce our mission to make travel accessible for every Juan and to support tourism and economic growth across the Philippines," she added.
Commitment to Comfort and Sustainability
This expansion solidifies Cebu Pacific's position as the largest operator of A330neo aircraft in the Asia-Pacific region, with 13 of these advanced planes in its fleet. The airline already utilizes the A330neo on routes to Cebu, Davao, General Santos, and Puerto Princesa, as well as on international flights to destinations in Asia, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates.
The initiative is a core part of the airline's commitment to offering more comfortable, higher-capacity, and sustainable travel options. The A330neo is a latest-generation aircraft that burns up to 25 percent less fuel per flight compared to previous generations. This efficiency not only reduces operational costs but also leads to a significant reduction in carbon emissions and noise pollution, aligning with global environmental goals.
