Central Luzon Showcases Rich Heritage in Japan
The vibrant culture and mouthwatering cuisine of Central Luzon became the main attraction at the recently concluded Philippine Festival Tokyo 2025. The event took place from November 29 to 30, 2025 at Yoyogi Park in Shibuya, Japan, drawing massive crowds to experience the best of Filipino traditions.
Interactive Exhibits and Cultural Presentations
Department of Tourism Region III (DOT-3), in partnership with the Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO), prepared an engaging Central Luzon booth that proved to be exceptionally popular among festival attendees. The booth featured interactive exhibits, cultural performances, and regional products that showcased the area's unique identity.
One of the most visited attractions was the Kulitan script writing demonstration conducted by renowned calligrapher Tang Lucio Sison. Visitors lined up to watch Sison transform names into the traditional Kapampangan script, creating personalized souvenirs that connected them directly to Central Luzon's cultural heritage.
Culinary Delights and Regional Crafts
Food tasting activities allowed Japanese visitors and international guests to sample authentic Kapampangan delicacies, including the distinctive batirol. The booth also displayed well-known products from Pampanga alongside exquisite regional craftsmanship.
Attendees admired the intricate Puni de Malolos décor from Bulacan and festive Christmas-themed installations featuring the iconic traditional Pampanga lanterns. These displays highlighted the artistic excellence and creative traditions that define Central Luzon's cultural landscape.
Distinguished Guests and Strategic Goals
The exhibition welcomed several prominent figures, including Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene Garcia-Albano, Minamimaki-mura Mayor Yoshito Arisaka of Nagano Prefecture, and Philippine Tourism Ambassador for Japan Alan Shirahama from the popular group GENERATIONS.
According to DOT III and ACTO representatives, their participation in the festival aimed to strengthen Central Luzon's presence in the Japanese tourism market. By promoting the region's heritage, creativity, and cuisine to thousands of festival visitors, they hope to build lasting connections and increase tourist arrivals from Japan to Central Luzon destinations.
The successful showcase demonstrates Central Luzon's growing appeal in international markets and underscores the region's potential as a must-visit destination for cultural and culinary enthusiasts worldwide.
