The Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCott) has officially launched a groundbreaking new bus service, creating the longest continuous land journey in Mindanao. This direct route connects Davao City to Zamboanga City, eliminating the need for complicated transfers and offering a new overland travel option for commuters.
A Direct Link for Mindanao Commuters
The new long-haul bus service began its operations on December 10, 2025, following approval from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) the previous month. The route is a direct response to long-standing passenger demand for a more straightforward connection between the two major cities.
DCOTT terminal manager Aisa Usop highlighted the significance of this development during the Habi at Kape forum at Abreeza Mall on December 17. She explained that previously, passengers traveling from Davao to Zamboanga City had to endure a circuitous route through Cagayan de Oro and Pagadian. The new direct service is expected to be a major convenience, saving time and reducing travel hassle.
Schedule, Fares, and Operational Details
The service is designed with passenger convenience in mind. Two daily trips will depart from Davao City, with scheduled departure times at 10 p.m. and 12 midnight. The estimated travel time for the entire journey is approximately 18 hours.
Fares for the trip are competitively priced, ranging from P1,200 to P1,600. The final cost depends on the discounts available to and availed by passengers. This offers a cost-effective alternative to air travel for those who prefer or need to travel overland.
Boosting Connectivity and Economic Prospects
While DCott continues to monitor passenger demand on this pioneering route, terminal manager Usop expressed strong optimism about its future. She believes ridership will grow steadily, which would not only benefit commuters but also contribute to increased income and expansion opportunities for the overland transport sector across Mindanao.
In light of the upcoming holiday season, DCott has also issued a travel advisory to the public. Management anticipates a significant influx of travelers in the coming weeks and urges commuters to arrive early at the terminal and plan their trips ahead to avoid delays during the expected holiday rush. This new route is set to become a vital artery for mobility and commerce in the southern Philippines.
