This heightened alert comes in response to a recent travel advisory issued by the Canadian government, which cautioned its citizens to remain vigilant if traveling to the Philippines.
Proactive Measures and Heightened Police Presence
In a statement released on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, PNP acting chief Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. emphasized a proactive strategy to counter potential crimes and safety risks. He stated that the police force is taking the foreign advisory seriously and is committed to ensuring a secure environment for all visitors.
"We take these travel advisories seriously," Nartatez said. "We continue to closely monitor high-risk areas and coordinate with various agencies to prevent any potential threats. Tourists should feel reassured that we are on alert and ready to respond 24/7 to any incident."
The general highlighted that ensuring strong police visibility at beaches, airports, and historical sites is a top priority. Coordination with local government units, tourism offices, and community stakeholders is considered fundamental to this safety mission.
Community Vigilance and Nationwide Deployment
Beyond uniformed personnel, the PNP is actively promoting community involvement in safety efforts. The public, including tourists and residents, are encouraged to report any suspicious activities through official hotlines and mobile applications.
