Security Outpost to Boost Safety on Emerging Tourist Island

Authorities in Zamboanga Sibugay are moving forward with plans to establish a strategic security outpost on Pandilusan Island, an emerging tourist destination known for its pristine beaches and rich marine biodiversity. The initiative aims to enhance safety measures and support sustainable tourism development in the area.

Inter-Agency Meeting Charts Security Plan

The proposed security facility was the central topic during a meeting held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the office of Zamboanga Sibugay First District Representative Marlo Bangcoro in Diplahan town. The gathering brought together key security stakeholders including officials from the Philippine National Police, military forces, and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), alongside representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways.

According to the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office, the outpost represents a strategic project designed to strengthen inter-agency cooperation while significantly enhancing the province's maritime security capabilities. The facility will be jointly manned by personnel from police, military, and coast guard units, creating a unified security presence on the island.

Boosting Tourism Through Enhanced Security

The security outpost is envisioned to ensure safety, peace, and sustainable tourism development in Pandilusan Island while supporting the province's broader peace and order initiatives. As the island continues to attract both local and foreign visitors with its natural attractions, the establishment of permanent security infrastructure addresses growing safety concerns while facilitating controlled tourism growth.

This project underscores the local government's commitment to balancing tourism promotion with essential security measures, ensuring that Pandilusan Island's development proceeds without compromising visitor safety or environmental preservation.
