Cebu City authorities have announced major temporary changes to public transport terminals for the upcoming Sinulog weekend to manage expected traffic and crowds. The rerouting will affect vehicles bound for key southern destinations and bus operations at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT).
New V-Hire Terminal for Southern Routes
Starting this Sinulog weekend, V-Hire operations for routes to Simala, Moalboal, Toledo, and Pinamungajan will be relocated. According to an advisory from the Cebu Provincial Information Facebook page on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, these vehicles will now use a newly opened terminal. This terminal is situated near the Taboan Market Bridge, specifically at the end of Sanciangco Street beside the barangay hall of Pahina Central.
Officials have confirmed that fares for these V-Hire trips will remain unchanged despite the change in boarding location. This move aims to decongest the usual loading areas ahead of the major festivities.
Bus Operations Shift to South Road Properties (SRP)
In a separate but related adjustment, all bus operations at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) will be temporarily transferred to the South Road Properties (SRP). This change is scheduled for Saturday, January 17, and Sunday, January 18, 2026.
The relocation is a direct response to the anticipated traffic disruptions caused by the solemn procession for the Sto. Niño de Cebu and the iconic Sinulog street dancing. Southbound buses will operate from a temporary terminal along El Pardo Road within the SRP.
The temporary facility has been prepared to handle passenger needs, featuring:
- 24 loading bays with dedicated ticketing counters.
- Tents and seating areas for waiting passengers.
- Portalets and adequate lighting for safety and convenience.
- Presence of traffic enforcers and peace-keeping personnel.
Passenger Pick-up and Drop-off Arrangements
A shuttle system using modern jeepneys has been arranged to ferry passengers between the city and the temporary SRP terminal. For passengers arriving from the south and heading to Cebu City, buses will drop them off at the Il Corso Terminal in the SRP. From there, modern jeepneys will transport commuters at regular fares to key points:
- Cebu North Bus Terminal
- Plaza Independencia
- Katipunan Street (in front of the Bible Baptist Church)
- Kinasang-an via F. Vestil Street
- Cordova via the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX)
Conversely, southbound passengers from Cebu City can board these modern jeepneys at the pick-up point along Katipunan Street near the Bible Baptist Church. The jeepneys will then take them directly to the temporary bus terminal at the SRP.
CSBT Use and Return to Normal Schedule
During the two-day transport rerouting, the main CSBT building will not be idle. It will be repurposed as a parking area for vehicles of emergency responders, law enforcers, and members of the Sinulog working committee.
Regular bus operations at the CSBT are set to resume early on Monday morning, January 19, 2026. Commuters and travelers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, allot extra time for travel, and follow the instructions of traffic personnel on the ground for a smooth and safe Sinulog experience.
