SEC Cebu Donates Unserviceable Equipment to CTU San Fernando Campus
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), through its Cebu Extension Office, conducted a formal donation of equipment to the Cebu Technological University (CTU) San Fernando Extension Campus on March 30, 2026. This initiative is part of the agency's ongoing efforts to ensure responsible management of government property.
Formalizing the Donation Through Legal Procedures
The donation was formalized with the signing of a Deed of Donation and Acceptance at the SEC's old building on V. Rama Avenue. Signatories included Atty. Jesher M. Radaza, Officer-in-Charge Director of the SEC Cebu Extension Office; Anne C. Valenzona; Dr. Wilfredo G. Anoos, CTU Campus Director; and Hector C. Oledan, Administrative Officer.
According to the SEC, the donated items comprise a vehicle, various IT equipment, and air conditioning units that have been classified as "unserviceable" for office use but remain functional for other institutions. Despite their condition, the SEC chose to transfer these assets to the education sector rather than leaving them idle in storage, demonstrating a commitment to efficient and responsible utilization of government resources.
Enhancing Educational Quality and Resource Efficiency
The SEC explained that this donation serves as a method to give a second life to the equipment while aiding in the improvement of educational quality at CTU San Fernando. It is anticipated that the received items will contribute to strengthening teaching and learning processes at the university.
The agency emphasized its adherence to proper procedures by coordinating with the Commission on Audit (COA) to ensure the transfer of properties complies with legal standards and maintains full transparency.
Positive Impact on Campus Facilities and Community Collaboration
From the perspective of CTU San Fernando, the donation is recognized as a significant aid to the campus, particularly in enhancing facilities and equipment for use by students and teachers. This initiative is also viewed as an exemplary model of collaboration between government agencies and educational institutions, aimed at advancing public service and community welfare.
The SEC hopes that their actions will inspire other agencies and organizations, whether public or private, to optimize their resources by donating to sectors in need. This movement underscores that effective governance is measured not only by large-scale projects but also by prudent management and proper use of every asset for the benefit of the broader population.
