80,000 New Teachers Pass 2025 Licensure Exams

The Philippines is set to welcome close to 80,000 newly licensed educators into its school system following the successful release of the 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) results.

Breaking Down the 2025 LEPT Passers

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) confirmed that a combined total of 79,696 individuals passed the examinations held in September and November 2025. This number comes from a total of 122,528 examinees, resulting in a national passing rate of 65 percent.

The PRC provided a detailed breakdown of the successful candidates. For the elementary level, 21,967 teachers passed out of 43,035 examinees, achieving a passing rate of 51.04 percent. The secondary level saw a higher rate, with 57,729 teachers passing out of 79,493 examinees, translating to a 72.62 percent success rate.

First-Timers and Repeaters: A Closer Look

A significant majority of those who passed were taking the exam for the first time. Among the elementary teacher passers, 19,924 were first-time takers, while 2,043 were repeaters. For the secondary level, the numbers were even more pronounced, with 52,207 first-time takers succeeding compared to 5,522 repeaters.

The PRC also noted that the examination results of 49 examinees are currently being withheld. This action is pending a final review of their potential liabilities under the official rules governing licensure exams. Additionally, three other results are on hold for further verification of submitted documents.

Registration and Oath-Taking Schedule

The newly licensed professionals can now prepare for their formal induction. The PRC announced that the registration period for the issuance of the Professional Identification Card (PRC ID) and Certificate of Registration is scheduled from January 5 to March 2, 2026.

Prospective registrants must prepare the following requirements:

  • The Notice of Admission (for identification purposes only).
  • A downloaded and duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal.
  • Two pieces of passport-sized photos with a white background and a complete name tag.
  • Two sets of documentary stamps.
  • One short brown envelope.

The commission added that the specific dates and venues for the mass oathtaking ceremonies for the successful LEPT examinees will be announced at a later time. This influx of nearly 80,000 qualified teachers is expected to significantly bolster the country's educational workforce, addressing needs in both elementary and secondary schools nationwide.
