Call Center Agent Arrested for Stealing Laptop in Cebu City
A 33-year-old call center agent is now in jail after being charged with stealing an expensive laptop from his workplace in Barangay Hipodromo, Cebu City on May 4, 2026.
The suspect, identified as alias Jayho, is single and a resident of Lapu-Lapu City. According to police investigation, Jayho was called to the Human Resources (HR) department on that day to comply with a 'Return-to-Work Order' and to submit an explanation letter after being on Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) since April 28, 2026.
While waiting inside the office, Jayho allegedly took a company-owned laptop valued at P60,000. As the suspect was about to leave the building, a routine inspection was conducted by the on-duty security guard. It was then discovered that the laptop Jayho was carrying was not issued under his name, leading to his arrest.
During an interview, Jayho argued that he had no intention to steal. He claimed he was just confused and believed the laptop was his. Despite his apology and admission of mistake, the company did not accept his explanation.
The suspect is now detained and has been charged with theft.
