Two Women Arrested for Selling Unregistered Slimming Coffee

Two women were arrested on Thursday, June 25, 2026, for selling slimming instant coffee without authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The entrapment operation took place at 1:24 p.m. along Leon Kilat Street, Barangay Pahina Central, Cebu City.

Suspects Identified

The suspects, identified only by their aliases Gera, 39, and Grace, 35, are employees of a beauty products store in Barangay Lahug. Gera resides in Beltran Subdivision, Barangay Quiot, while Grace lives in Sitio San Vicente, Barangay Lahug.

Operation and Seizure

The operation was conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Mandaue City Field Unit, together with representatives from the FDA Regional Office 7. Seized were five large cartons of slimming instant coffee products, estimated to be worth P200,000.

Unregistered Products

CIDG-7 investigators received information that the store was selling “Baian 3-in-1 Slimming Instant Coffee” under the brand name “Lishou.” Upon verification, the police confirmed that the products were not registered with the FDA Regional Office 7.

Charges Filed

The suspects are now in the custody of the CIDG-Mandaue City Field Unit. They will face charges for violating Section 11(a) in relation to Section 12(j) of Republic Act No. 9711, the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.

The operation was part of “Oplan Mega Shopper,” the flagship program of the CIDG.
