A 36-year-old man was arrested on Monday, July 6, 2026, for allegedly groping a mango vendor in Sitio Mansanitas, Barangay Sambag 2, Cebu City. The suspect, identified only by the alias “Marvin,” was taken into custody by Abellana Police Station 2 officers.
Incident Details
The 26-year-old victim, identified by the alias “Ashley,” reported that while she was selling mangoes that evening, she noticed the suspect repeatedly passing by in front of her. On his final pass, Marvin allegedly suddenly reached out and groped her buttocks.
According to police investigation, the victim, in a state of shock, sought help from barangay tanod (village watchmen) who were patrolling the area. However, instead of surrendering, the suspect resisted.
Resistance and Arrest
When the tanod confronted Marvin about the victim’s complaint, he allegedly suddenly punched them. A scuffle ensued, and the tanod quickly handcuffed the suspect and brought him to the Abellana Police Station.
“The suspect resisted arrest and assaulted the barangay tanod,” said a police officer from Abellana Police Station 2, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Charges Filed
The suspect is now facing charges of Acts of Lasciviousness and Direct Assault. He is currently detained at the police station while awaiting further legal proceedings.
