The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, July 6, 2026, stated that COVID-19 cases in Quezon City have actually declined, contrary to reports of an increase.
Data shows significant reduction
According to the DOH, data as of July 4 shows Quezon City recorded 125 cumulative cases in 2026, a 68 percent decrease from the 389 cases reported in 2025. This trend aligns with the national picture.
Nationally, the DOH reported 719 COVID-19 cases as of June 20, 2026, compared to 3,579 cases during the same period in 2025. "There is a significant overall decline in infections at the national level," the DOH said.
Misinterpretation of local data
The agency clarified that reports of a surge in Quezon City may have been misunderstood. While there were 23 confirmed cases from May 21 to June 10, this rose to 84 cases from June 11 to July 1. "This requires much caution in interpretation," the DOH emphasized.
The DOH continues to urge the public to maintain preventive measures such as hand hygiene to curb any potential spread. "The DOH continues to remind the public to maintain hand hygiene and other preventive measures," the department stated.
