Major Collision on National Highway Injures 13

Thirteen individuals sustained injuries during a severe road accident that occurred early Monday morning in Naga City, Cebu. The incident involved a collision between a Toyota Hi-ACE Grandia van and a black Toyota Innova operating as Ogre's Taxi.

The crash took place at 4:50 AM on November 10, 2025 along the National Highway in Sityo Humayan, Barangay Pangdan. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene following calls from concerned citizens.

Victims and Medical Response

All thirteen injured persons were transported to various medical facilities in Cebu City for treatment. The van carried four passengers who were all employees of Consolatrix College in Toledo City, including three nuns and one faculty member.

The religious sisters and teacher were admitted to a private hospital in Cebu due to serious injuries including multiple fractures. Meanwhile, the taxi contained seven passengers, all residents of Barangay Lamac in Pinamungajan, who were taken to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC).

Investigation Findings and Legal Action

According to the Naga traffic police investigation, the Ogre's Taxi driven by Alyas Christopher, 44, caused the accident. Police Staff Sgt. Ariel Conde, the investigating officer, explained that the taxi driver swerved to avoid a leaning bamboo pole on the road.

The driver overcorrected his steering maneuver, causing the vehicle to suddenly cross into the opposite lane and collide head-on with the approaching van. The impact was severe enough to cause both vehicles to spin out, resulting in injuries to all occupants.

Alyas Christopher is now in custody at Naga City Police Station and faces charges of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Multiple Physical Injuries and Damage to Property. The case was formally filed on Tuesday afternoon.

The van, driven by Alyas Alberto, 42, from Cebu City, was en route to Toledo when the collision occurred. The quick response from Naga City Police Station and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) helped ensure all victims received prompt medical attention.
