The Aboitiz Foundation, in a powerful demonstration of corporate social responsibility, has activated a major relief operation for communities devastated by Typhoon Tino. Working alongside its various business units under the OneAboitiz banner, the foundation has mobilized assistance valued at P3 million to support recovery efforts across Cebu, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
Immediate Relief Reaches Thousands of Families
This humanitarian drive, which commenced on November 5, builds upon the group's previous support for areas affected by the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck Cebu in September. Through close coordination with local government units, the Aboitiz team has successfully distributed essential supplies to 12,500 families in the hard-hit provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Occidental, Iloilo, and the Dinagat Islands.
The relief packages included more than 7,200 food packs, various non-food items, and a critical supply of 158,000 liters of clean, potable water. This comprehensive approach ensures that the basic needs of the affected populations are addressed during this challenging period.
Sustained Recovery and Infrastructure Support
The aid initiative extends beyond immediate relief distribution and is continuing throughout the week. Teams from AboitizPower are actively working on the ground to restore damaged power lines, a crucial step in returning normalcy to the communities. Simultaneously, Aboitiz InfraCapital Water is ensuring a steady supply of safe drinking water, mitigating the health risks associated with contaminated water sources after a severe weather event.
Sabin Aboitiz, the Chairman, emphasized that this coordinated effort is a true reflection of the OneAboitiz spirit of unity and compassion. He stated that the initiative is driven by a deep-seated commitment to stand with fellow Filipinos in times of crisis, showcasing how the collective strength of the Aboitiz Group can be harnessed for meaningful social impact.
