Classes and work were disrupted at Cebu Technological University (CTU)–Main Campus after a magnitude 6 earthquake shook Eastern Samar on Monday afternoon, May 4, 2026, at 2:09 PM. Students and employees evacuated their classrooms as the tremor was felt in several parts of Cebu.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), Intensity 2 was recorded in San Francisco, Cebu, while Intensity 1 was felt in Cebu City, Carcar, and Liloan.
Earthquake Details
The epicenter was located nine kilometers northwest of San Julian, Eastern Samar. Phivolcs reported that the earthquake was shallow, with a depth of only 10 kilometers.
