A 47-year-old man died and his passenger was injured after their motorcycle lost control due to brake failure on Wednesday night, May 6, 2026, in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City.
Accident Details
The incident occurred around 9:30 PM along South Hills Road in Odevillas Subdivision. The victim was identified as Rittie Subingsubing III, 47, a resident of Salvador Street, Barangay Labangon, Cebu City. His passenger, Blicelle De Villa, 42, of Duljo Fatima, Cebu City, sustained injuries.
Brake Malfunction Cited
According to the investigation by the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office, the motorcycle was heading downhill when the brakes suddenly malfunctioned. Due to the steep descent, the driver lost control, causing both riders to fall onto the concrete road.
Medical Response
Both victims sustained body injuries from the strong impact and were rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center. However, Dr. Nolie Kristoffer Gabia declared Subingsubing dead on arrival due to severe head trauma. De Villa is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries.
The police continue to investigate the incident to determine further circumstances surrounding the accident.
