Typhoon Tino Orphans Girl in Barangay Paril Tragedy

Young Girl Orphaned by Typhoon Tino's Wrath

A heartbreaking tragedy has struck Barangay Paril as a young girl lost both parents during the devastating onslaught of Typhoon Tino earlier this week. The victims, identified as Junalyn Candol Borbajo and Myron Arenas Borbajo, were swept away along with their home during the catastrophic flooding that occurred on Monday night, November 4, 2025.

Family Home Destroyed in Sudden Floodwaters

The Borbajo family residence, situated dangerously close to the riverbank, was completely destroyed when floodwaters surged unexpectedly late Monday evening. Barangay officials revealed that the couple had chosen to remain behind to secure their property and check on Junalyn's elderly father, who lived nearby. This decision would prove fatal when the nearby river overflowed its banks.

Rescue teams later recovered the bodies of Junalyn and Myron along the rivers of Manyapyap, several kilometers downstream from their original home location. The couple's young daughter miraculously survived the tragedy because she had been taken to the city for safety days before the typhoon made landfall.

Search Continues for Missing Grandfather

Rescue authorities believe that both parents and the child's grandfather were caught in the sudden rush of floodwaters when the river breached its boundaries. While the parents' bodies have been recovered, the grandfather remains missing as search and retrieval operations persist in the affected area.

This tragic incident highlights the continuing dangers faced by communities living near riverbanks during typhoon season in the Philippines. The Borbajo family's story serves as a sobering reminder of nature's destructive power and the importance of heeding evacuation warnings during severe weather events.
