Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla revealed on Friday, May 8, 2026, that former lawmaker Zaldy Co, who is allegedly involved in the country's flood control controversy, is living comfortably in a luxurious 10-room property near the Champs-Élysées Avenue in Paris. This comes despite ongoing efforts by Philippine authorities to secure an Interpol red notice against him.
Interpol Red Notice Application
In his interview with reporters, Remulla disclosed that the government applied for a red notice against Co in September 2025, but it has not yet been approved by Interpol authorities in France.
“It turns out that Philippine law differs from Interpol's standards. Whenever there is even a slight political inkling, they delay the process and conduct their own investigation,” Remulla explained.
Despite the delay, Remulla expressed confidence that they will eventually secure the red notice and bring Co back to the Philippines.
Ongoing Efforts
The Philippine government continues to coordinate with international authorities to expedite the process. Remulla assured the public that the case remains a priority and that all legal avenues are being pursued to ensure accountability.
