A 25-year-old man was injured after his Suzuki Raider motorcycle was hit by a Mitsubishi Montero in Barangay Suba, Cebu City on Tuesday morning, June 23, 2026.
The victim, identified as Vincent Tangpos, a resident of Baclay Drive, Barangay Basak, Cebu City, was driving the motorcycle. The driver of the Mitsubishi Montero was identified as Philip Loquiber, 35, a resident of San Fernando town, Cebu.
According to the investigation of the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) of the Cebu City Police Office, the two vehicles were coming from different directions when the incident occurred at around 6:55 a.m. along Tupaz Street.
Collision at Intersection
Tangpos was heading towards Basak when the two vehicles met at the intersection of Tupaz Street, causing the collision. Loquiber claimed that he was about to cross the intersection when the motorcycle suddenly appeared.
However, Tangpos stated that he was in the correct lane when the accident happened. Due to the strong impact of the collision, Tangpos was thrown off his motorcycle and sustained bruises on various parts of his body.
Investigation Findings
After the investigation, TEU personnel determined that the Montero driver was at fault due to lack of caution while crossing the intersection.
As a result, Loquiber will face a charge of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Physical Injuries and Damage to Property.
