Zonta Club of Cebu 2 Celebrates Homecoming and Empowers Youth Leaders
The Zonta Club of Cebu 2, an integral part of the global Zonta International organization, recently hosted a heartwarming homecoming event for a returning member while simultaneously inducting a new cohort of high school students into their Z Club program. This dual celebration underscores the club's unwavering dedication to advancing the status of women and girls through meaningful service and advocacy efforts.
A Joyous Reunion at Ginza Restaurant
Fellow Zontian Virginia Frasco-Capili, affectionately known as "Ginny," returned to Cebu from her home in Chicago, USA, coinciding with the vibrant Sinulog festivities. To mark this special occasion, her clubmates organized a welcome luncheon at Ginza Restaurant, where camaraderie and nostalgia filled the air.
With food authority and Zontian Liza Young consulting on the menu, attendees indulged in a superb selection of seafood specialties, beef, and pork dishes. The gathering was graciously hosted by super hostess Carmen Go, who sponsors the beloved Zonta Zoom Rosary group. During the luncheon, Virginia fondly recalled her participation in the recent Zonta Area Meeting in Cagayan de Oro, sharing amusing stories of "misadventures" that sparked waves of laughter and cherished memories among the group.
Virginia will return to Chicago next week, but her Cebu Zonta sisters eagerly anticipate her next homecoming, embodying the club's spirit of enduring friendship and support.
Welcoming New Advocates for Change
In a parallel initiative, the Zonta Club of Cebu 2 inducted new high school students into their Z Club family, a key program aimed at nurturing socially conscious and proactive young leaders. The installation ceremony, led by club president Lucy Carcel, warmly welcomed these students into the worldwide Z Club network.
Serving alongside President Carcel are IVP Mayet Malinao, EVP Petite Garcia, Z Club chair Cita Chan, and PRO Laurie Boquiren. Board members include Zontians Edwina Wu, Myrna Tan, Margie Sy, Mariter Klepp, Georgia Klepp, Jane Llaban, Filna Espina, and Jenny Go.
The newly inducted members were encouraged to embrace their roles as advocates for change, champions of equality, and ambassadors of hope. Through mentorship and guidance from their mother club, these young leaders are poised to develop their skills and contribute positively to their respective communities, creating meaningful impact through service and advocacy.
Commitment to Global and Local Empowerment
The Zonta Club of Cebu 2 remains steadfast in its mission to empower women and girls, leveraging programs like the Z Clubs to foster a generation of leaders who can drive social change. By combining heartfelt reunions with forward-looking initiatives, the club continues to build a supportive network that spans from local communities to global connections, reinforcing the importance of service, leadership, and lifelong bonds among its members.
