Nearly 200 Trafficked OFWs from Cambodia Safely Return to the Philippines
Close to 200 Filipinos who fell victim to human trafficking in Cambodia have safely returned home on Thursday, February 5, 2026. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed the arrival of 190 distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 in Pasay City via a Philippine government-chartered flight.
Government-Led Repatriation Efforts
In a social media post, the DMW announced that a total of 190 Filipino human trafficking victims from Cambodia arrived safely today. This repatriation is part of a broader initiative, with the department revealing that nearly 900 distressed OFWs have been brought home since 2022. Specifically, 877 OFWs have been repatriated from Cambodia after falling victim to human trafficking activities over this period.
Comprehensive Support for Returnees
Immediately upon their arrival, the OFWs were assured of all necessary assistance and support from various government agencies. The DMW outlined that this includes:
- Financial and welfare assistance from the DMW and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration
- Medical care from the Department of Health
- Psychosocial support from the Department of Social Welfare and Development
- Legal aid from the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking Task Force
This coordinated response aims to help the repatriated workers recover and reintegrate into society after their traumatic experiences abroad.
