LILOAN, Cebu – A 76-year-old widower was found dead inside a rented room in a lodging house in Sitio Lamac, Barangay Yati, Liloan at around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026. The victim, identified only as Bien, worked as a tricycle driver.
Incident Details
According to Police Chief Master Sgt. Arni Goc-ong, investigator of the Liloan Police Station, the victim checked into the establishment for one hour with a young woman. However, minutes later, the cashier noticed the woman leaving alone, prompting cashier Louie Jay Tolo to check the rented room. Upon entering, he found the victim lifeless.
Goc-ong said the lodge staff did not recognize the woman who accompanied the victim. He added that there were no signs of foul play in the incident.
Autopsy Refused
Police recommended an autopsy to determine the cause of death, but the family refused. They believe the victim suffered a heart attack, possibly related to taking a sex enhancer before the incident.
“We do not know the woman, but according to the lodge staff, she was around 20 years old,” Goc-ong said.
The lodge staff revealed that the victim had checked into their establishment two to three times before. He usually accompanied women his age or older. This was the first time they saw him with a much younger companion.
“He was overwhelmed by his excitement because he was very old and his companion was very young,” the investigator remarked.
Family Background
According to the investigator, the family had left the victim to his personal life since he became a widower two years ago. It was reported that his children had repeatedly scolded him for constantly using medications believed to enhance his physical strength or stamina.
