Dear Noy Kulas,
I am Amil, 33 years old and still single. My problem is about love life. I have a classmate from high school. Many people liked her because she is very pretty, like a beauty queen. She has the right height and is really attractive. After high school, we didn't see each other until I graduated from college. I worked in Manila and returned to Cebu two years ago. Last year, we had a high school reunion. I met my classmate, whom we will call Mina. She is not yet married. She has a live-in partner working abroad. They have no children because she is not ready to take care of a child. After the reunion, we continued communicating. Whenever she argues with her partner, she comes to me to complain. Then she asks me out. I already have feelings for her because I had a crush on her in high school. She is okay with us having a relationship but without emotional attachment. In short, things have happened between us that should not have. As time went on, I started missing her. I became jealous of her partner. I told her I am ready to marry her, but she said she is not ready to get married. She just wants someone to vent to when she is depressed. Noy Kulas, are there women like this? How can I convince her?
Noy Kulas' Advice
If that is what she wants, there is no other way to convince her except to wait until she gets tired of a relationship outside of marriage. Besides, she already has a partner whom she likely loves and is just waiting for him to propose marriage. She is living with a man, which means she has love. And you might just be her temporary escape. Why don't you look for a woman who shares your outlook and life situation? What good is a beautiful woman with a nice figure if she has a different view on life? Those who do not want to marry or have children are common nowadays. There are more and more people like her, perhaps due to the difficulties of the times.
