Barbecue Vendor Fatally Stabbed in Tuburan City During Fraternity Dispute

A tragic incident unfolded in Tuburan City, resulting in the death of a 26-year-old barbecue vendor after a violent altercation with a friend. The victim, identified as Antonio Bernabe Sentillas Jugan, succumbed to his injuries at Tuburan District Hospital early Sunday morning, January 25, 2026.

Details of the Fatal Encounter

The stabbing occurred in Barangay Bagasawe, where Jugan and the suspect, Cesar Gorgonia Ligan, were among a group of friends enjoying drinks and festivities during a local barangay celebration. According to police reports, the conflict escalated from a fraternity-related argument, leading to the fatal attack.

Police Chief Master Sgt. Roberto Rondina stated that the investigation revealed Ligan had initially tried to defuse the situation by escorting some neighbors home to avoid further trouble. However, upon returning to the disco, he was assaulted by Jugan, who struck him with a hard object on the face.

Arrest and Aftermath

In response, Ligan approached Jugan and stabbed him three times in the stomach. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Jugan did not survive his wounds. Ligan, an elderly resident of Barangay Bagasawe, was apprehended later that Sunday afternoon in a follow-up operation by authorities.

This incident highlights the dangers of fraternity conflicts and alcohol-fueled violence in community gatherings. The local police are continuing their investigation to ensure justice is served and to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
