The House prosecution panel is confident that their evidence is sufficient to prove the four Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte in the upcoming Senate trial.
Lead Prosecutor's Statement
According to lead prosecutor and Batangas Rep. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro, the evidence gathered from various House investigations is strong. These include issues on confidential funds, unexplained wealth, bribery, and alleged threats against high-ranking government officials.
Preparation and Additional Witnesses
Iloilo Rep. Lorenz Defensor stated that the prosecution team has long prepared the case and is ready to present additional witnesses and evidence to the Senate.
Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon said that possible evidence to be presented includes documents from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) regarding bank transactions of Duterte and his spouse.
For the bribery case, Manila Rep. Joel Chua said they will use testimonies and evidence previously presented in House hearings about the alleged distribution of cash envelopes to some Department of Education officials.
Luistro emphasized that their confidence remains intact that all complaints filed against the Vice President will be proven.
