Five police officers stationed in Central Luzon have been removed from their posts as authorities investigate their alleged connection to a multi-million peso robbery in Pampanga.
Officers Tagged in Multi-Million Peso Theft
Brigadier General Rogelio Peñones, the director of the Police Regional Office III (PRO-3), confirmed the development in an official statement released on Thursday, December 4, 2025. The lawmen, who were reportedly assigned to posts in Angeles City and Zambales, have been implicated in the alleged theft of P14 million from a contractor in Porac town.
"As a standard procedure, the police personnel initially linked to the incident were relieved from their posts while the investigation is ongoing," General Peñones stated. This move is a standard administrative step to ensure the integrity of the probe and prevent any potential interference.
Special Task Group Launches Deeper Probe
The police official emphasized that a more comprehensive investigation is now underway. A Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) has been formed to dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding the high-value robbery and the extent of the police personnel's alleged involvement.
Peñones issued a stern warning, drawing a clear line on misconduct. "PRO-3 draws the line clearly: any police officer who abuses the badge will face criminal and administrative charges. Walang palusot. Any misconduct in Central Luzon will not be tolerated," he stressed.
PRO-3 Vows Accountability and Transparency
In his statement, General Peñones sought to reassure the public, stating that the core values of transparency, integrity, and professionalism remain non-negotiable within the regional police command. He addressed reports of police involvement originating from Angeles City specifically, pledging that PRO-3 would exert full effort to determine the facts.
"Initial actions have already been taken to ensure accountability, and further measures will be pursued once the investigation is complete," he added. Peñones also noted that commanders on the ground have been empowered to take necessary actions to address any misconduct within their ranks promptly.
The relief of the five officers marks a significant development in the case, highlighting the police administration's move to hold its own personnel accountable while a formal inquiry proceeds.
