Live-in couple arrested with P598K shabu in Toledo

A live-in couple's alleged drug distribution activities in Toledo City, Cebu, have been cut short following a successful police operation that will see them spending the Christmas season behind bars.

Operation Details and Arrest

The Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of the Toledo City Police Station conducted the buy-bust operation on the night of Thursday, December 4, 2025. The target location was in Barangay Sangi, Toledo City. Authorities apprehended the primary target, 35-year-old Anecito Ebrado Jr., along with his live-in partner, 28-year-old Alberian Asingua Ocampo.

Significant Drug Haul and Distribution Network

Police officers confiscated several packets of suspected shabu during the operation. The illegal drugs had a total estimated weight of 88 grams. Based on the standard drug price (SDP), the confiscated substance carries a street value of approximately P598,400.

Investigators revealed that the suspects, both originally residents of Sitio Laguna, Barangay Bulacao in Cebu City, had recently relocated to Toledo City and rented a house in Barangay Sangi. Police information indicated that Ebrado moved to avoid trouble in Bulacao. However, the pair had reportedly expanded their distribution network to cover not only Barangay Sangi but also other parts of Toledo City and even their previous area in Bulacao.

Charges and Ongoing Investigation

The arrest was the culmination of a weeklong surveillance operation. Police launched the probe after the names of Ebrado and Ocampo surfaced as alleged distributors of shabu, with their supply reportedly sourced from contacts in Cebu City.

Authorities are now preparing charges against the two individuals for violations of Sections 5 (selling) and 11 (possession) of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Furthermore, the Toledo City police are not stopping with this arrest. They have announced that they are actively tracking the couple's alleged downlines or contacts in Cebu City for a potential follow-up operation to dismantle more of the distribution network.
