A live-in couple's plan to celebrate Christmas in their new Toledo City home was shattered after they were arrested in a police anti-drug operation that yielded a significant amount of suspected shabu.
Nighttime Sting Nets High-Value Target
The Toledo City Police Station's Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) conducted the buy-bust operation at 11:44 PM on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in Barangay Sangi. The primary target of the operation was 35-year-old Anecito Ebrado Jr., who was apprehended along with his live-in partner, 28-year-old Alberian Asingua Ocampo.
Both suspects are originally from Sitio Laguna, Barangay Bulacao in Cebu City. Authorities confiscated from them several sachets containing what is believed to be shabu. The illegal drugs had a total weight of approximately 88 grams, with an estimated standard drug price valued at a staggering P598,400.
Investigation Reveals Drug Trade Links
Police investigation revealed that the names of the two individuals had surfaced as distributors of shabu originating from Cebu City. The Toledo City Police Station conducted a week-long validation of this intelligence before launching the successful anti-illegal drug operation that led to their capture.
It was discovered that the pair had only recently moved to Toledo City and were renting a house in Barangay Sangi. Investigators stated that the male suspect, Ebrado Jr., had relocated to avoid something or someone in Bulacao. However, authorities allege that the suspects had already begun distributing shabu in Barangay Sangi and throughout Toledo City.
Charges Filed and Probe Continues
The seized evidence has been submitted to the Cebu Provincial Forensic Unit for chemical analysis to confirm the substance. Meanwhile, police have prepared charges for violations of Section 5 (Sale) and Section 11 (Possession), Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, against the suspects.
The investigation is ongoing, with police focusing on identifying the suspects' downline or network within the city to facilitate follow-up operations. The couple remains in custody as the legal process begins, ensuring their Christmas celebrations will be held behind bars.
