Major Drug Bust in Camotes Islands Nets Alleged Big-Time Pusher
Law enforcement authorities successfully arrested a farmer described as a major drug pusher during an anti-illegal drug operation on Camotes Island on Thursday evening, November 6, 2025.
The Arrest and Seizure
Joint operatives from the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) and the San Francisco Municipal Police Station captured the suspect known as alias "Mike," 49 years old, from Sitio Estampar, Barangay Santa Cruz in San Francisco City.
During the carefully planned buy-bust operation, authorities confiscated a large package of suspected shabu weighing approximately 505 grams with an estimated standard drug price of PHP 3,434,000.
The seized illegal drugs were immediately turned over to the PNP Forensic Unit for comprehensive chemical analysis to confirm the substance and gather additional evidence.
Criminal Background and Drug Network
According to the PIU-CPPO investigation, Mike is allegedly the leader of a drug group operating throughout the entire Camotes Island area. Police authorities validated this information through their undercover agents after the suspect's name surfaced within the community.
This isn't the suspect's first encounter with drug-related charges. Records show that Mike was previously arrested in 2015 on similar drug charges but managed to secure release in 2022.
Investigators revealed that the suspect could allegedly sell up to one kilogram of shabu per week, indicating the significant scale of his suspected operations.
Ongoing Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Authorities have identified that Mike's sources of illegal drugs come from various drug personalities both inside custodial facilities and from outside Cebu. Police are currently validating the names of these suppliers in coordination with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and their counterparts in other areas of the country.
The police have prepared charges for violations of Section 5 and 11, Section II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, against the suspect.
The successful operation demonstrates the continued efforts of Philippine law enforcement to combat the illegal drug trade, particularly targeting high-value individuals involved in the distribution network across the region.
