Malacañang has issued a public appeal for assistance in locating a key figure in a major human trafficking case, confirming she remains at large within the country.
Public Urged to Report Fugitive's Whereabouts
During a press briefing on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Presidential Spokesperson Cheloy Garafil called on citizens to immediately inform authorities of any information regarding Cassandra Li Ong. The appeal comes as the government intensifies its search for Ong, who is considered a fugitive from justice.
Garafil stated that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has verified that, based on their latest records, Ong is still within the Philippines. "According to their records, Ms. Cassandra Ong is still in the Philippines. The search continues because she is considered a fugitive since a warrant of arrest has already been issued," Garafil explained.
PHP 1 Million Bounty for Information
The spokesperson emphasized the importance of public cooperation. "Anyone who may see Cassandra Ong should immediately inform our law enforcement agencies so they can serve the warrant of arrest against her," she urged.
To incentivize tips, the Department of Justice (DOJ) is offering a PHP 1 million reward for information that leads to Ong's location. This substantial bounty underscores the seriousness of the case and the government's determination to apprehend her.
Connection to POGO Trafficking Case
Cassandra Li Ong is identified as one of the principal suspects in a pending human trafficking case linked to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in Central Luzon. The case has drawn significant attention to illegal activities within the POGO industry.
When questioned if the Palace would join the DILG's suggestion for the public to take photos of fugitives, Garafil welcomed all forms of assistance. "In all instances and through any possible means, whether small or big, any help from the public will assist the government in bringing fugitives to justice," she affirmed.
The government's coordinated effort, involving the Palace, DILG, and DOJ, highlights a major push to resolve this high-profile case. Authorities are leveraging both public vigilance and a significant financial reward to close the net on the fugitive.
