The Philippine Army has relieved a senior officer from his command following a social media post where he publicly withdrew support for President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

In an official statement released on Friday, January 9, 2026, Army spokesperson Colonel Louie Dema-ala confirmed the removal of Colonel Audie Mongao as commander of the Training Support Group. The action was a direct result of Mongao's online declaration against the President.

"By the direction of the Commanding General, PA, Col. Mongao was immediately relieved from his post and put into A/U status to give way to a thorough investigation by the Training Command," stated Colonel Dema-ala.

Command Attempts Contact

Major General Michael Logico, the commander of the Army's Training Command, provided further details on his official Facebook page. He revealed that attempts were made to contact Colonel Mongao following the controversial post, but the officer did not respond.

"An investigation is underway to determine possible administrative and legal charges that may be imposed upon him in relation to his online statement," Major General Logico added.
